Plastic Surgery After Gum Disease May Give You Back Your Smile

Posted on 2/17/2017 by Implant & Periodontal Associates NW
A woman in pain from gum disease!
Gum disease can lead to a number of challenges, from declined oral health to loss of teeth to an alteration in the appearance of your smile. Fortunately, if you have had gum disease and managed to eliminate it, there are some things you can do to help restore your smile to the appearance it once had.

One of those things is cosmetic surgery in order to restore the appearance of your gum tissue.

Surgery Following Gum Disease

There are a few different procedures that can be used to treat the appearance of your gums after gum disease. One of them is gum graft surgery. When you have gum graft surgery, your oral surgeon takes healthy gum tissue and grafts it into your smile in a place where the gum tissue has receded.

This has a few effects. First, it helps to protect tender and vulnerable tooth roots, and helps restore stability to your teeth. Second, it restores the appearance of your smile: instead of having teeth that are too exposed and unsightly, you'll have a smile that looks natural and healthy.
Your dentist can give you more information about plastic surgery after gum disease.

If you have an issue that you think makes you a candidate for plastic surgery, come talk with us. We know all about the various procedures available to you, and we can answer any questions you may have.

As with any procedure, you need to be sure that you understand the risks and possible complications, and we are happy to go over everything with you to help you make the best decision. We are happy to sit down with you and review your options. If you're not sure whether plastic surgery can help, please do not hesitate to contact our office!
